Friendly spoken prompts. Listen buttons are always there for another try.

Number range

Start small, then open up more numbers when your learner feels ready. Shape and pattern activities do not use this number limit.

Preferences apply to your next adventure. Every adventure has five questions, with no countdown or rush to answer.

A little look at practice

These are practice records, not an assessment. Exploring a number means it was opened. A first-try answer is the first choice made on a question in a completed adventure.

Only completed adventures appear here. Up to 500 are kept in this browser; records are shared by anyone using this same browser profile.

Before you begin

Let interest set the pace.

Begin with Meet the Numbers and a number your child notices in everyday life. Say its name, count the objects together, then look for that many things around you.

Move to a short counting adventure when they want a new challenge. The wider number range is an option, never a deadline.

While you play

Ask, notice, celebrate.

Try “How did you find that?” or “Shall we count together?” Give your learner room to tap, pause, and change their mind. Celebrate a careful count or a new idea.

A tricky question can be a good place to stop and use real objects. A small handful of blocks or spoons makes a lovely next activity.

Made for little taps

A comfortable place to play.

Rest the device somewhere steady and keep the volume comfortable. Let your learner tap the large choices; there is no dragging, camera, or microphone to set up.

Stay nearby, follow their interest, and take a break whenever play stops feeling enjoyable.

An easy way back

Add a home-screen shortcut.

iPhone or iPad: open Little Orbit in Safari, open the Share menu, choose Add to Home Screen, then Add. The Share option may be inside the page menu.

Android: open Little Orbit in Chrome, open the three-dot menu, and choose Add to home screen. Choose Create shortcut if shown, then Add.

Menu names vary by device. This saves a convenient shortcut; an internet connection is still needed to load the website and audio.

Good to know

A few small questions

Where should we start?

Choose 0–10 and visit Meet the Numbers together. Follow your learner’s familiarity with quantities and symbols, rather than an age label. Try shapes or patterns for a different kind of noticing.

What happens after a mistake?

Your learner can try again. There is no timer and no lost life. The first-try record simply helps you notice which activities might be worth exploring together.

Why can’t I hear the voice?

Check that sound is on here and your device volume is up, then tap Listen again. English recordings load from this website. If a recording cannot play, an available English voice stored on the device may be used. Some browsers have no suitable voice. On-screen words remain available.

Will progress follow us to another phone?

No. Practice is saved in this browser on this device. Another browser, a private window, or a home-screen app may have a separate record. Clearing site data removes the saved record.

Do we need an account or a subscription?

No account or payment is needed. Little Orbit has no ads or in-game purchases. You can open an activity and start playing.
